Rural districts face unique challenges with regard to education technology implementations. A CoSN survey of rural superintendents identified high-speed broadband access, sustainable funding, people and human capital, as well as communicating the “Why” behind technology as a few of the biggest barriers. At the same time, the smaller size and tight-knit communities common to rural districts afford them with unique opportunities. In this session, we’ll review the CoSN resources for rural districts and discuss the challenges and opportunities for rural communities looking to expand educational opportunities through the use of technology.
